Blog tour: the Great Stink

The “If I were a spy…” contest rolls on! Enter here.

Today, the T2T blog tour takes me to the Story Siren, where Kristi found Spy “enthralling” and “a great start to a series”. Hurray! You can read the rest of her review here.

Also at the Story Siren, I’ve written a guest post about the Great Stink of 1858, which is the setting for Spy. Yes, “the Great Stink” was its real name. See you there!

Education and learning can be such fun. Too bad schools forget that. Students would remember so much more if we could concentrate on the little tidbits that are good examples of the overall situation. If they understood the WHAT and some of the reasons WHY, they would be more likely remember the WHO and WHEN. I’ve learned much more by reading historical fiction than I ever did in most history classes. Actually my best “methods” class in college was stressing the approach that the best way to teach history was to teach the students how the information in the text books was traced and discovered. More along the lines of teach them how to learn rather what to learn. Too bad that approach isn’t incorporated into more classes.
